Frequently Asked Questions
- What does underrepresented discipline mean?
Underrepresented disciplines might refer to academic fields that have historically had fewer students enrolled, either locally or nationally. Examples of such disciplines include but are not limited to Mathematics, Engineering, Geography, Social Work, Interdisciplinary, Communications, Education, Linguistics, Literature, Music, etc. Underrepresented discipline might also refer to a field facing a shortage of professionals, making the need for graduates in these areas particularly high.
- Can I work as a GA or in an on-campus position if I receive the enrichment scholarship?
Absolutely! The Enrichment Scholarship is a monetary award that does not require services. UNI employment restrictions do apply to student employees and graduate assistants.
- Can I receive more scholarships if I receive the Enrichment Fellowship?
Only other types of scholarships given by other UNI departments through the Financial Aid office could be possible. You will receive a full Tuition Scholarship from the Graduate College, so you cannot receive any other Graduate College-funded scholarship. Your tuition will be fully covered. This means you will only need to cover mandatory fees and other expenses.
- How will I know if I was selected for and awarded this scholarship?
Check your preferred email! We will send you an Official Offer Letter electronically. This letter will contain instructions and detailed information. Beware! If you do not respond by the stated date, you will lose the award.
