=======================================================================================

Raised in Reinbeck, just outside of Cedar Falls, Megan attended Luther College in Decorah where she received her Bachelors of Arts in Communication with a minor in English. Following graduation in May of 2000, Megan became a full time Admissions Counselor at Luther for the next 6 years before deciding to attend graduate school at UNI. When asked why she chose UNI Megan said, "I came to UNI for a variety of reasons including UNI's reputation for quality graduate education, my desire to stay in the state of Iowa, and because of my familiarity with the Cedar Falls area."

Megan, in her second and final year of the Post Secondary Education (PSE) program, enjoys UNI and the PSE program because of the, "...wonderful friendships I have made with my classmates, the great professors, program director, and all of the UNI professionals I've had the opportunity to work with."

In addition to being an excellent student, Megan is also a Graduate Assistant for the Graduate College where she is involved in several areas including coordinating professional development activities and workshops. Megan is also involved in the University of Northern Iowa Student Personnel Association (UNISPA) where she serves as co-coordinator, is a member of the Iowa Student Personnel Association (ISPA), and Graduate Student Advisory Board. Additionally, Megan has recently become involved with the Volunteer Center of Cedar Valley, and volunteered with RAGRAI through the Cedar Falls Tourism and Visitors Bureau.

Outside of graduate life, Megan enjoys spending time with her family and friends, running, working out, taking pictures, scrap booking for others, reading, and writing letters.

Megan plans to graduate in May of 2008 with a MAE in Postsecondary Education: Student Affairs. She hopes to work for a small college or university whose beliefs, values, and mission are congruent with her own and is particularly interested in the "A's" of Student Affairs including Academic Advising, Athletic Academic Advising, Admissions, and Alumni.

Megan's advice to new and current graduate students includes: "Make the most of your time here. Establish relationships and make connections with your professors and classmates. Familiarize yourself with both the UNI and Cedar Falls communities and enjoy life as a student."
