College of Humanities and Fine Arts (CHFA) Faculty Excellence Award Recipient Professor Richard Utz of the Department of English Language and Literature
The College of Humanities and Fine Arts is pleased to announce that Professor Richard Utz is the first recipient of the CHFA Faculty Excellence Award. The CHFA Faculty Excellence Award was created to honor a tenured faculty member who has earned a national or international reputation as a Scholar or Artist and who has demonstrated an excellent ability to translate those Scholarly/Artistic skills into exciting classroom and studio experiences. The CHFA gave the award to Professor Utz at a ceremony on 29 September 2004 at which Professor Utz gave a lecture entitled " 'There Are Places We Remember': Situating the Middle Ages in Postmedieval Cultural Memories". Dr. Utz is, indeed, a highly respected scholar and this lecture provided a clear example of how scholarship enhances the classroom experience.
